Stress Relief

I have a few things that make me calm in stressful moments of life. "The Girl from Ipanema" is at the top of the list. Astrud Giberto's voice is just so soothing and mellow. I'm listening to this and the rest of the Getz/Gilberto album on repeat this week to de-stress as I finish up a ton of work and pack/prepare for our next adventure, a 10 day work trip in Maui.

What works to calm you in moments of stress?

Rainy Day Teacup Entertainment

Last week my friend Brittany and I attempted to read our tea leaves. It was sort of a making lemonade out of lemons situation when we discovered our tea leaves were smaller than the teapot filter. We ended up with cups full of tea leaves, immediately thought of Harry Potter and Brittany whipped out her iPhone to google "reading tea leaves".

Naturally, we mainly "saw" happy things in our tea leaves. According to my cup, a strange visitor is going to bring me lots of money!

Anyway, the point of this post isn't to tell you all to go out and try reading your tea leaves, but more to say, I hope you're making the best of your day and remembering to find fun in the little things.

Holiday De-Stressing: Facials

As much as I love the holidays, this time of year can be stressful with a calendar full of social gatherings, shopping for gifts, pressure to decorate/bake, and work on top of it all. December is a great month to splurge on a little self-care like a facial or massage to de-stress.

Have you ever had a facial? I started getting them consistently (once a month) this fall and I have to say it’s an indulgence that I have not regretted. It’s such a relaxing experience and my skin has never felt healthier. I usually have dry patchy spots this time of year with the transition to cooler weather but I've been able to avoid that all together. Facials can be pricey but there are some good deals out there with memberships (what I do) or if you're willing to get one from an aesthatician student.

Another great idea is to do a simple at home facial with supplies you already have around the house. This would be a fun party with girlfriends to get some R&R together!
