Fall Reading

Autumn is always the time of year when curling up with tea, a cat (or two) and a good book is all I want to do. Here's what's on my reading list this fall.

I'm currently reading Gilead, something I've been meaning to get to for awhile. So far so good, but it isn't meant to be a quick read by any means.

Did you know The Princess Bride was a book before it was a movie? For the 25th anniversary of the movie this year, I thought I'd take a stab at the novel which supposedly has more funny parts, more adventure and more of the love story. Inconceivable!

Teresa is currently reading  Anna Karenina in anticipation of the movie which comes out later this year. I gave it a go in high school, but I have to admit, it was a bit over my head at the time. I think I'm ready to tackle it again and really enjoy the story and Tolstoy's beautiful style this time around.

I'm on the fence about The Casual Vacancy. As a HP fan, I was excited to see what J.K. Rowling's imagined up this time, but the reviews I've seen so far haven't been great.

I'm a bit behind on the fantasy book trend and only to the second Game of Thrones book. I enjoyed the first one last spring but continuing a series about a family who's motto is "Winter is coming" through the summer just didn't seem right.

The Receptionist: An Education at The New Yorker, is supposedly a juicy version of exactly what it sounds like, the memoir of Janet Groth who spent 20 years at the publication.

Gone Girl looks like a great thriller I want to check out.

Also, When We Were Romans has been on my "to read" list for awhile.

What are you reading? Any good recommendations?

I checked out "When We Were Romans" after seeing it on Cup of Jo, but I wasn't too impressed.

I'm currently reading MWF Seeking BFF, it's pretty good!

    1. You were the first person to recommend her to me! I'm FINALLY getting around to reading them after 10 years and a bunch of other people telling me how great they are.
