Happy Birthday Julia Child

Today is Julia Child's 100th Birthday. I remember being content for hours, sitting on my grandparents green shag carpet watching her cook on PBS when I was small. I loved her passion for cooking and her ability to laugh at herself if she made a mistake but it wasn't until I read more about her that I realized she truly was an amazing lady, the kind I aspire to be like.

I absolutely adore her memoir My Life in France. She had so many adventures! Did you know she a was a spy? Learning to cook didn't come until she was in her 30's. It goes without saying, this book will inspire you to live fully and leave you craving good wine and french bread.

Julia's French Onion Soup Recipe is one of my very favorites.

Check out her kitchen, now an exhibit at the Smithsonian.

I just ordered this in hopes it'll inspire me on a new cooking kick.

Also, how can you not love someone who has the sense of humor to send out the this photo as a Valentine's Day card to friends and family. I believe Julia and I would have gotten along swimmingly. (via Vanity Fair)

  2. i always thought she was so serious when i was little. I think because she was old and because of her voice/accent. it was really only as an adult and that Julie and Julia movie did I realize she was funny/had a sense of humor about herself and her cooking. isnt that funny!?

    1. I feel the same way! Although I really wish that movie would have JUST been the Julia parts.
