Best of Etsy: Raku

One of my favorite classes in high school was ceramics. I loved sitting at the wheel everyday and seeing what would be created. I’ve been meaning to get back into it for about 10 years now. The coolest thing that we got to do in the class was fire our pots “Raku” style in a burning metal garbage can! The color that it creates is relatively unpredictable and it usually has a unique "cracked" effect. Check out some of my current favorite Raku ceramics from Etsy below.

  1. Those birch tree vases are fantastic. If anybody's curious about the raku process, my brother has some pictures here:!/photo.php?fbid=175750095814476&set=a.174708829251936.43930.102642673125219&type=3&theater

...and he's part of an open house this weekend:

    Check it out!

    1. Alex, his stuff is amazing and the pictures of the process are super interesting. I had no idea your brother did ceramics. I think T and I are going to have to check out his open house!

    2. Thanks for sharing the links Alex, your brother's work is great!! Patrick has family down in Covington so maybe we'll make it down there this weekend. I've been hoping to buy a ceramic/raku teapot.
