Hello Again

And we're back!

What do you think of the redesign?

I have to say, I've really missed blogging. While sometimes getting posts up seems like a chore, when I wasn't posting, I really missed it. This is so much of an outlet for me and I know Teresa agrees.

We started this in January of 2012! So much life has happened since then and as I've been working on the redesign, it's been so much fun to look back over the posts that we've written. I've been reminded that more than anything else, this blog is a little time capsule into the world of Jenny and Teresa.

This was Teresa's first post and this was mine.

This post has over 1.5 million hits! Crazy! (And some super opinionated commenters, jeez...)

Another continually popular post (thanks Pinterest!) is about quilting!  Maybe it's time to make another quilt Teresa.

How was Mylo once so teeny? And how amazing that you've been able to capture his growth on here T!

Then there are the posts I've completely forgotten about! Like that time I was obsessed with Angela Lansbury! (I still am a little...)

You'll never know what you'll find in our blog archives...we really do seem to have a little bit of everything.

Lastly, if you're curious about our new photos...
Teresa and I decided we needed to have the most creative photo in the photo guest book at Laura & Alex's reception this August. So we hijacked the Polaroid camera and had our own little photoshoot! Something about the 1920's theme made a bathtub seem appropriate (1920's > Prohibition > Bathtub Gin> Lets climb in the bathtub!) and that's how it happened!

Life updates and a barrage of new posts to come soon...

PS. Please let me know if anything is wonky on the site. I've been trying to iron out all of the kinks, but I'm sure I missed something.

We Haven't Forgotten About You!

Hello!

So ya, remember when I said we'd be back with a new blog design in a week, and now it's been over a month? Oops.

It's been a busy fall for us and we're still working on things over here. We will be back to blogging in November.

See you soon!

My Spot

This post on blog ideas inspired me to share with you all where I usually blog from...

Even though coffee shops are a frequent blogging spot and sometimes it's 3 am from an studio, while others around me are feverishly working on projects, and  then other times I'm in a hotel room on the other side of the world, when I'm home, my favorite place to blog is from my chaise lounge in the living room. Its perfect, complete with tea and cats. This time of year I love that I can look out and see the ripening Asian pears on the trees in our yard.

In-between now and the next few adventures, Jason and I (hopefully) will have a quiet couple of weeks, catching up on work, maybe getting to have dinner with a friend or two and cleaning up from the tornado of crazy-business that has attacked our house multiple times over. I'm looking forward to getting to sit in my spot and breathe.

Goodbye Google Reader

Dear Google Reader,
You've been a good and faithful friend that I've enjoyed getting coffee with for many mornings. Instead of being sad that you're leaving us, I'll try and remember all the good times we've shared.

I won't forget you, my wonderfully organized, "type A" friend. Thank you for all you've done and I wish you the best in wherever new job Google has for you.

Don't worry about us, we will miss you, but we'll be OK. Teresa is becoming friends with Feedly, and I'm getting to know Bloglovin.

Love,
Jenny

PS.

How do you get your daily dose of blogs?

I arrived home from Mexico last night to discover the grim news that Google has decided to retire their "Reader" feature! Google Reader has always been my main mode of blog consumption and, although it's by no means perfect, I'm sad to see it go.

Which leads me to the big question, how to read all my favorite blogs now?! I'd love to hear what websites you use to read your daily favorites. I've heard good things about both Feedly and Bloglovin, any thoughts?

PS. Photos (including baby bump!) of Mexico coming tomorrow!

Jenny's Top 8(ish) Posts from the Year

I'm so glad Teresa had this idea to pick our favorite posts for the past year.  (Did you see her list?) I've really enjoyed going back through the months and coming across posts I'd completely forgotten about, I can't believe there have been so many! This is post #455.

It's been a whirlwind year for me, lots of work and travel, both fun and mundane. I've so enjoyed the blog throughout it all, to keep track of my journeys and keep me connected, whether I was in the middle of nowhere Kenya or the middle of nowhere West Virginia. And then at home in the dark days of winter, it was my little ray of sunshine and happiness.  Thanks so much to all of you out there for stopping by to check out all of the things we blog.

Without further adieu, my favorite posts of 2012:

Thinking about Childhood: 90's Fictional Characters Who Shaped Me

Do not try this at home: Cat Bath

My favorite Monday Motivation posts with inspiration from Tupac & Tolstoy

Documenting wanderlusty visitors: Teresa's Photo Booth Guestbook

A different kind of wanderlust: The time I kissed a giraffe

For all the aspiring iPhone photographers: A Photo Lesson

First ever Wedding Wednesday post: Three Tips for the Big Day

This is the type of thing I think about when my mind is left to wander: Becoming Angela Lansbury...

PS. I encourage you to go back through the archives, they are all good, really, I promise. OK, just one more...my favorite movie.

It's hard to believe we've been blogging for nearly a year now! Happy Blogiversary to us!!

The post that went big! This insightful post by Jenny has brought in more readers than any other with over 500,000 hits.

These pictures bring back fond memories of summer sunshine and being able to sit outside. Love these ladies!

Trying Something New: Seattle Sailing Adventure
I pushed myself to do a lot of new things in 2012 and sailing with my dad was one of my very favorites! Hopefully we can hit the water again next spring/summer.

Books on Blogging

Hello all you fellow bloggers out there! I'm curious if you have any recommendations for good books/resources on blogging that you would recommend? I saw that Joy of "Oh Joy" came out with a new book last month that looks pretty interesting (apparently 95,000 new blogs are launched every day around the world-- yikes!).  Have any of you read it? Jenny and I have been blogging for almost a year now (our blogiversary is in January) and we are always looking to up our game and learn more about how to reach a larger audience and create relevant material. Recommendations?

Our New Look!

We are excited to officially unveil our new look!! Big thanks to our friend Rosanna over at Iron Curtain Press (check out her fun card above) for the redesign, isn't she talented? Also, thanks to Jason for taking the lovely photos on the main page and "about" page. We are loving the new design, thanks for reading our little blog!
