Happy Birthday Myles!

Mr. Mylo turned THREE last week! Where did the time go? It was the first holiday that he has asked me if I'm getting him a present so it was also the first time I actually bought and wrapped him one! In the past he has gotten ample presents from family and friends so I never bothered with it. We bought him some Magna-Tiles and a remote control car (Patrick's idea and a huge hit). I also made him cupcakes from scratch (this delicious recipe) and regretted it immediately, who do I think I am? SOOO time consuming.

Here is a little snapshot of our three year old:
  • He is a curious, sweet, sensitive, inquisitive, caring, energetic, gentle giant. He weighs 40 lbs and is very tall for his age, entering into 5T clothes already.
  • He loves his baby sister, cousins, Rafa, and being with our family. Our little extrovert often asks me first thing when he wakes up in the morning "who is coming over to our house today?"
  • He loves to read books of all kinds but especially about animals. Bunnies and ducks are two of his favorites.
  • He likes to eat shrimp, hot dogs, berries/fruit of all kinds (nectarines are a current fav), grilled cheese, and of course ice cream. He also still drinks a ton of milk.
  • His favorite TV shows are Blaze and the Monster Machines, Super Why, and anything to do with trucks and construction. He is also majorly into Space Jam right now which cracks me up.
  • Although he doesn't even watch the TV show, he is totally obsessed with Ninja Turtles. I swear he almost cried for joy when he got a Michelangelo T-Shirt for his birthday.
  • He has a huge vocabulary and is CONSTANTLY asking why why why? We are very excited for him to start preschool in the fall and quench his thirst for knowledge :P
  • He loves playing soccer with his dad in the field across the street from our house and throwing rocks in to the water at Lake Washington.
  • He's a great little sleeper still and would nap for 3-4 hours a day if we didn't wake him up so he'll sleep at night.
  • Patrick has taught him to ask people questions about themselves so everyday he'll ask people "How was your sleep mommy?" "How is your day Mimi?" "How was your work Daddy?" -- It's pretty much my favorite thing.
  • He does not enjoy brushing his teeth, having his finger nails cut, bugs of any kind, ketchup, or potty training.
Happy Birthday Butter! I love you!

Myles: Two and A Half

Today my little baby is two and half years old!!

It's so fun to see his personality developing the older he gets. He is a chatterbox and has even started to make his own little jokes. He'll debate or negotiate EVERYTHING until he gets what he wants. He wants to name his little sister "Starla," after the girl monster truck in his favorite show Blaze. He loves all of our family and is constantly making lists that include everyone by name  He still sleeps with his favorite stuffed animal, Cowy, and his pacifier every night. He is a big boy and still my baby all at once. I LOVE THIS AGE!

More about Mylo at 2.5 years old:

He loves eating olives, pickles, blueberries, raspberries (which he calls gras-berries), bananas (which he calls two-nanas), shrimp, cheese, yogurt and granola, and of course ice cream.

He loves playing with his monster trucks, trains, planes, play-doh, Etch-a-Sketch, puzzles, legos, stickers, and balls.

He loves reading books about animals, construction, Blaze, counting, and anything with sound effects.

He loves watching the TV shows Blaze & The Monster Machines, Winnie the Pooh, Curious George, Mickey Mouse, Little Einsteins, and Paw Patrol.

He loves being with his cousins, outdoors, cuddling with mommy and daddy, "playing" with Rafa, the snow, laughing, stomping, and generally being silly.

Happy Birthday Myles!

On Monday Myles turned TWO YEARS OLD! Who is this kid and what happened to my baby?! We celebrated just the three of us at my family's cabin in Idaho. He had huckleberry pancakes and played at the beach, I made a funfetti cake, we sang him happy birthday... it was simple and wonderful.

Here's a little bit about what Mylo is into these days:

  • He is obsessed with animals and knows the name of everything from a kangaroo to a starfish. Going to the zoo is so fun with him, he especially loves the farm area (cows are his favorite animal) and watching the otters swim.
  • He is fascinated by anything with a motor and wheels --trucks, cars, airplanes, tractors, fire engines, you name it. When we go on walks he yells out "blue truck!" "red car!" "yellow tractor!"
  • For being such an independent baby he has become quite an affectionate toddler. He loves to sit on our laps and read his books, snuggle in bed in the morning, and will even occasionally hold our hand outside.
  • Every night before bed we have to brush his teeth, which has been torturous for all parties until we started a little game where he names off every one who has a toothbrush while we do the brushing. "Grammy toot-brush, Dada toot-brush, Grampa D toot-brush, Titi toot-brush, Ro toot-brush..." It's pretty much my favorite.
Happy birthday big boy! Love you to the moon and back.

Myles: Eleven Months

He's such a big boy now! Crawling and finally some teeth coming in!

Myles: Ten Months Old

I think the photo above is my favorite I've taken of Myles during his monthly photo shoots! I love his little overalls. 10 months! This post is late again since he'll be 11 months on Friday, oh well. Our baby is very expressive and loves to smile. He is enjoying playing ball, eating tons of nectarines and berries, playing with his cousins, and dancing to music.

He's a happy camper in general but we are trying to encourage him to crawl since he's a little behind now. The doctor says no more propping him up to stand until he crawls. You can do it little butter bean!

Myles: Nine Months Old

Better late than never right?! Myles will actually be 10 months old on the 20th. As you can see he is loving the warm weather we have been blessed with in Seattle this spring. He is a happy baby who loves being outside, playing with his blocks and toys, munching on all types of food (especially blueberries, oatmeal, carrots and bread), laughing, and "playing" with Rafa. He still has no teeth (!) and is working on crawling but not quite there. The older he gets the more fun we are having, we love our little "butter bean."

Myles: Eight Months Old

Baby Myles is eight months old! He is leaning over on his little arms trying to get the hang of the crawling position. He's got a lot of weight to support though at over 23lbs! This weekend we had sunshine and he is so hilarious to watch in the bright sunlight. We hit up Fremont Brewery and everyone was laughing at what a little vampire he looks like since he has hardly seen the sun his whole life! One of my favorite things about this age is the love he is developing for animals. He loves Rafa and is always trying to "pet" him, which Rafa tolerates. I've maybe never seen him more happy than when my sister's dog licks his little face and hands. KINDA makes me want to get a dog...kinda.

Myles: Seven Months Old

My baby is growing up so fast! As you can see, he has mastered sitting up on his own and is reaching forward to try the crawling position. He loves playing with Rafa and my sister's dog, going on walks to see the flowers blooming, eating avocado and broccoli, kicking his legs in the bath, singing with his dad and playing with mama's hair and necklaces. We are all happy that spring is on the horizon and we'll be able to spend more time outdoors!

Myles: Six Month Old

I am WAY behind on my updates, tomorrow Mylo will be seven months! Better late than never though right?? I'll give more of an update next week with his seven month photos but he's doing great. Loves sitting up and playing with his toys and blocks, is eating solid foods (update on that coming too!) and has slept through the night for almost a week straight. His fuzzy little hair is growing in which cracks me up. Love our little guy.

Myles: Five Months Old

I'm a little late on Myles' 5 month pictures...but better late than never right? I'm loving this age, he seems to be developing new skills and cute little quirks every day. He has this curious little look like the picture below like he is pondering life. We had a wonderful Christmas with both sides of the family, I will post some pictures soon recapping the past couple of weeks.

Happy New Year!

Myles: Four Months Old!

Guess who turned four months old? My child! I can't believe he is the same baby as this tiny skinny-mini. He is around the 90th percentile for height and weight now, big boy! Four months is my absolute favorite age so far. As our pediatrician said, "Four month old's are like crack." Pretty much. We spend most of our time sitting around acting ridiculous so we can see him smile and listen to his hilarious laugh. Here are a few of my favorite things about his emerging personality:

- He loves to eat (obviously) -- we are excited to give him solid foods in a few months
- He has never liked to be constricted so he is thrilled that he can now push himself up, stand and bounce in his saucer, and hold himself perfectly straight on our laps.
- He thinks his dad is the most hilarious person on earth. Pretty much everything he does cracks Mylo up.
- He has started babbling and "singing" a lot during the day and in his crib when he is trying to go to sleep. We of course think he's very advanced. ;)
- He is not much of a cuddler but loves to have his soft blankies right on his face when he is going to sleep. He loves cozy things just like his mama.
- He adores spending time with his Grammy and Mimi (my mom and MIL) while I'm working -- he has a huge smile in the morning when he comes out and sees they are at our house.

Rafa wanted to get in on the fun, I found him sleeping in my photo shoot after I'd put Myles down for a nap.

Myles: Three Months Old!

Baby Myles is already three months old! As you can see, he is packing on the ounces -- look at those rolls! He smiles all the time, has an awesome laugh, loves being outside, and is getting more and more fun every day. I love being his mom.

Myles: Two Months Old!

Myles turned two months old on Saturday! He is finally packing on the ounces -- which we are thrilled about because he was having trouble absorbing fats. He is almost 12 lbs now and over two feet long! He is smiling and laughing a little and loves to play and look at things. The older he gets the more fun we are having being parents. He is very active and loves to move around and observe his environment. He is also discovering his hands, which is highly entertaining for Patrick and me. It's hard to believe that two months have already flown by, he is changing so much every day.
